biography

Valeria was born in Richmond, Virginia, to a single Mother, Alma Rendón. While her early life was not one lavished with presents or prizes, it was one that was rich in love. She knew, from a very early age, that she was the apple of her Mother's eye. However, Valeria also knew that Alma had to work very hard in order to give her the best life she could. For most of her youth, the girl saw more of her caretaker, Thomasina, than she did of her Mother - at least on the average day. Regardless, Valeria and Alma were able to form very strong bonds between them. Her caretaker was also another presence in her life that she came to adore; like her and her Mother, Thomasina was of magical blood. A witch. And much of what Valeria learned of the craft came, at least in those early days, from the one who watched over her while Alma was at work. Still, both women instilled a lot of gravity in to the young girl; and it was very rarely that a male presence really came in to either house. There were friends of the family, of course - but none that seemed ingrained in to the very fabric of their lives. Instead, the two women began to weave their lives closer... After a while, the two began to hatch several plans together - one of them being a fashion to give them both more time with Valeria. They established their shop, La Fée Verte, when Valeria was fifteen years old. While it wasn't an easy start - they managed to flourish within the investments they made there.

Eventually, Valeria would find herself with two Mothers; there was much more than friendship between Alma and Thomasina, after all. The young girl was very pleased to have two such individuals in her life. Though there was something secretive within it; they were nervous to show their link in public, aside from in certain places - Valeria saw it as just another instance of being 'more than the rest' of the people who lived near them. It made her happy, though, that - as she grew up? She noticed her Mothers becoming more open with their love; though they never really did open up with their magical understandings. Currently, the two women still live in Richmond and are very much out and proud. With their relationship. Some still side-eye them about the Occult Novelty store they manage, of course. In the end, that store was what brought them most fully together. That, and the little girl they'd raised together. As she was within Alma's eye, Valeria was also the very apple of Thomasina's, too. She was the pride of the family, especially as she began to shine in all of her studies. From learning their secretive craft, to learning the rules of their business, to excelling in her school grades - Valeria came to be known as an apt pupil in all things.

Like her Mothers, Valeria loved their store. She worked there when not invested in after school activities throughout her last years of high school. Eventually, she put forth the idea that, if she did well in her college days; perhaps she could take their little business to other cities? While her Mothers were relatively keen on the idea of taking their wares to other places, they did not like the idea of their daughter going anywhere too far away. So, in the end - Valeria agreed to do research on cities in Virginia. Therefore, she would be able to spread their store's reach, and also not be so far from her roots as to make her Mothers weep. With their agreement, the young witch set out to college and was soon on her way to realizing her dreams. Regardless of this, Valeria found herself still praying to her Goddess, Hathor, to allow her to soften her Mothers to the idea that she could go further from home. Of course, she would keep to the idea they'd come up with together - but could Her Lady please give them a little less protectiveness over her?

Her Lady did not give a vocal answer, or perhaps felt it better that Valeria find her path along the road her Mothers had set for her. So, after college? Valeria settled in the city of Scarlet Harbor, a place that seemed to be the destination of many young witches. She established the branch of La Fée Verte quickly; there were still some odd looks, but not quite as many as at home. Eventually, Valeria began to feel that she was then at home, more than she'd been in Richmond - despite her parents not being there with her. Though they visit from time to time, her Mothers prefer what they have and wish to give their daughter her own room to spread her wings. They still do insist that she stay where she is, of course, and not go further away from them. With her heart being so sewn in to Scarlet Harbor, Valeria is no longer disagreeing with them. Could it be that she’s found the place all the grand Ladies of her life wish her to be? Herself included, of course, in that list.

APPEARANCE

At 5'2, Valeria is relatively short. However, she's slender and blessed with curves she's been told are 'killer'. She isn't exactly a health nut, but the young lady tries to eat right - most of the time - and will exercise when she really feels the need to. Over all, her figure comes mainly from very good genes; or, at least, that's what she claims when asked. Valeria's facial features are also known to draw positive remarks; her lips are full and her eyes are wide, chocolate brown, and fringed in long lashes. She's very much in love with makeup, though she also tends towards more natural looks while at work. When she's out on the town, she will vamp it up. She'll also make certain her clothes and accessories are very eye catching, too - at least when she wants to be noticed. This doesn't mean that she doesn't enjoy lounge-wear, of course. On many of her days off, she prefers pajamas and slippers over cute dresses and heels.

Granted, the one thing she's very prideful about, above all other things, is her hair. It is thick, luxurious, and a rich black that she adores. Valeria has always gone above and beyond to take care of it, and she's rather touchy about it if something goes 'wrong'. Currently, it reaches just beyond her shoulders - nearing to her mid-back. She tends towards keeping it down, letting the body and slight wave to it be noticed in great detail. When she must pull it back, she isn't above the common pony tail, but she does prefer the more elegant styles when there's due cause to use them.

POWERS

Like all witches, Valeria is more powerful than the common human. She's taken it upon herself to learn as many different types of spell craft as she can - and is, in fact, still learning. Currently, she has been paying more and more attention to the healing arts - though she is by no means one of the best at it. At least, as of yet. Valeria does, however, excel at protective wards; things which keep away ill-health and physical danger, especially. She's also no slouch when it comes to elemental magic; fire being her preferred type of this branch of a destructive nature. Despite her want to know as much as she can, the young witch tries not to dabble too deeply in anything deemed considerably dark. Valeria does not abide by blood magic, nor does she favor those who practice necromancy. In fact, both frighten her to some extent. Why bring harm or control when you could bring safety and kindness?

On less mystical levels, Valeria is a good businesswoman. She's also very kind, giving, and loves to be helpful to those she's made friends of. And she likes to try to make friends with most everyone who isn't an immediate asshole. The young lady also enjoys baking, and is currently learning to make more complicated confections - though she needs people to really test out how well she's doing. Finally, Valeria loves to sing, and sometimes plays video games - though she doesn't get so deeply attached to them as some other people she's met who play.

WEAKNESSES

The common human frailties; Valeria is not immune to the common cold, nor to anything worse. Aging will catch up with her one day, and eventually may claim her - if something else doesn't do so first. While she has magical healing, she isn't able to perform this trick with anything on the severe end - not on herself, and not really on anyone else, either. Furthermore, Valeria has let her faith be misguided. While she is a very spiritual person, relatively good in the scheme of things - her heart has been taken by the darkness of lies. She worships in very old pagan traditions; taking to her heart the faith of Hathor - an Ancient Egyptian Goddess. Of course, Valeria isn't aware that demons have tricked her in to alignment with Evil through this guise of a Goddess.

On a more personal level, Valeria is quite taken with chocolate. She really love its, perhaps above all other sweets. Give her that, and a nice, tasty glass of sangria? She'll be good to go. Or lounge the night away watching movies. She's also a sucker for a handsome face - and she tends to prefer blonds over brunettes or red heads.
